Brief Description:
South Hedland Integrated Sports Hub (SHISH) is Port Hedland’s premier regional sports and recreation precinct. The SHISH project seeks to rectify numerous functional deficiencies as well as introducing new and exciting amenity to significantly enhance liveability. SHISH includes Wanangkura stadium, Kevin Scott Oval, Faye Gladstone Netball complex and the Marie Marland Reserve. The entire precinct will be improved, integrated and presented with contemporary facilities and landscaping.

Progress Highlights:
- Carabiner Architects has been awarded a $1.3 million contract for the full design of all elements, excluding landscaping across the significant hub. The new facility will feature a new large pavilion, a four court stadium expansion, internal remodelling of the existing stadium and two smaller pavilions to the rear of the hub. it will also incorporate new sporting fields to support the current and future local sporting club needs, playgrounds and active play areas, social fitness and running trails, and a dog exercise park.
- Aspect Studios have been awarded a $265,000 contract for the SHISH landscape Masterplan creation and Stage 1, 2 and 3 SHISH design and construction support.
- A construction tender for the car parks and associated civil works within the Stage 1 works area will be released and awarded before 31st December with the construction works to be delivered this financial year. Over the 20/21 financial year construction work at the SHISH will address drainage issues, prior to construction.
